What do pit bulls have in common with guns?

The answer is that when they save lives, the news is unlikely to be widely reported.

Like this report of a heroic pit bull, who saved her family from what would have been certain death:

WELLSTON, Okla. —A 10-year-old pit bull terrier is being hailed a hero after she saved a Lincoln County family from their burning home.

Early Tuesday, smoke and flames filled the family’s home near Wellston.

Rhonda Westenberger said she and her sister, Evelyn, were asleep, unaware of the danger, until their pit bull, named Baby, sprang to action.

The women said the dog would not stop barking and pouncing on them until the women woke up and when they did, they had just seconds to escape.

“There were flames shooting down the hallway,” said Westenberger. “If Baby hadn’t woken Evelyn up, I don’t think either one of us would have come out of it.”

The women escaped, but their other five dogs were scared and stuck inside, so once again, Baby came to the rescue.

“There was one hiding underneath the bed,” said family member Charles Land. “Baby actually went in there grabbed it by the neck and drug it outside.”

Bless that dog! And damn the people who want her killed because of her genetic background!

Nothing so dramatic has happened to me, nor has Coco ever been that heroic. However, a few months back I was awakened in the wee hours of the morning by frantic, non-stop barking, so I ran downstairs to see that the living room was flooded. One of the fish tanks had sprung a leak, and nearly 50 gallons of water had turned the rug into a swamp and was pouring down the ventilation ducts. The poor trimac cichlid was still alive but on his side gasping. I had just enough time to save the fish, vacuum up most of the water with a shop vac, and take the carpet outside to dry. No permanent damage resulted, and I can truthfully say that a fish’s life (and the hardwood floor) was saved by a dog, because I would not have awakened until hours later when it would have been too late.

Let’s face it, “Dog saves fish” is not your typical news headline…

But it would be a great improvement on the typical news headline…

Yanno, since it’s liberals you are dealing with regarding Coco, you might want to refer to it as canine eugenics. For that matter, that word might make conservatives shudder as well.
