Holding myself accountable for my inapt comparison

In last night’s debate post, I opined that Candy Crowley “looks like a malevolent female version of Jobba the Hut.” At least one commenter did not like it, so today I feel obligated to apologize.

First off, I should never have said that Candy looks like “Jobba the Hut.” As even the most simple-minded SciFi retard should know, its “Jabba the Hutt.”

And I didn’t mean to insult Candy so much as make an observation. I did see a certain facial resemblance, and I actually like Jabba the Hutt. So where does that leave me? Did I insult Candy Crowley, or did I insult Jabba the Hutt? Perhaps I should avoid these comparisons. After all, I don’t read enough SciFi.

But still, there is the facial resemblance.

Here’s Candy:

And here’s Jabba!

And here’s the morph:

I am really sorry if I made an inapt comparison. Images sometimes get the better of me, and I meant no harm. I was just trying to be funny. Cute, even. If Candy and her fans are offended, I apologize.

And if Jabba and his fans are offended, I doubly apologize! Perhaps the comparison was too strong. I meant to say that Crowley looked greedy, dishonest, malevolent, and gloating, and that these facial expressions reminded me of Jabba the Hutt. Perhaps I have misunderstood the historical Jabba. If so I apologize.

Jabba seemed like a real free-market entrepreneurial capitalist – so comparing him to big government Candy is kind of insulting to him.

Jabba didn’t interrupt and has an awesome laugh. I’d like to see him moderate the next debate. And then drop the loser into the rancor pit.

Note to the Secret Service: that was a joke. Please do not arrest me.

Jabba has been unfairly maligned by the Jedi controlled media.

Jabba the Hutt? I thought he was the Congressman representing the west side of Manhattan.
