This headlinekind of renews my faith. In, um democracy or whatever it’s called these days in places like Venezuela.
La consultora Varianza otorga una victoria al líder opositor por un 51,3% frente al 48,06 de Chávez. El cierre de los colegios se produjo una hora después de la estipulada
Which means that wannabe permanent dictator Hugo Chavez is losing by a thin margin. If enough people vote, such things can happen.
UPDATE: Damn. They left the polls open so long that the Chavez people got their voters in.

Only if they are allowed to vote…
Sorry – reminded me of the Baghdad Blogger – and his comment on voting for Saddam. Haven’t got the real quote handy – but went something like this. “I made sure not to wear my glasses and asked people around me what to check – that way they knew I voted the right way”…
Survival…
Being the one to count the votes means winning.

Now now…people don’t just vote because they are “concerned” about their health. Many also participate for sentimental reasons, particularly those involving money.

Apparently the ex-President of Colombia has retweeted a letter where Hugo’s minions added an extra 30% to the paycheck of certain Venezuelan citizens, as an incentive for voting for Chavez.
