What is natural?

I realize it’s a recurrent question (here and elsewhere) and I have long objected to the ambiguity which results from the invocation of “nature,” but this latest is a real gem:

Moral lesson? Nature is whatever Google or anyone invoking  nature wants you to do.

And whatever they don’t want you to do is unnatural.

I wish I had known this years ago. It could have saved me a lot of time.

Nature is unnatural.

Unnatural is whatever the observer finds icky.

Eric, you do have a fair number of dead links or links to blogs long ago abandoned.
Maybe that is part of what they are griping about. But I think you’ve got better things to do than spend a lot of time on a cleanup, so I won’t nag you about them. Thanks for being you and for what you do!

What Alan said (Hi Alan, glad to see you are still around.)

But also what Aristomedes says. Think of Google as your bluenose aunt who runs around your house doing a white-glove test for dust. Clean it up if you REALLY want to please her. Or just ignore her if you don’t.
