I have been cruising various pro gun sites over the last few months. “Gun Walker” stories. “Gun Runner” stories. “Fast and Furious” stories. Tons of electrons spilled (and that is a whole lot of electrons). Other than this site and JPFO I have yet to see any other sites connect the dots (thank you Eric, thank you Zalman [RIP]). So let me give it to you short, straight and hard so there can be no mistake.
If it wasn’t for Drug Prohibition none of those gun scandals, murders, decapitations and disembowelments would have happened.
No place but here and JPFO have connected the dots. Heck. Even Instapundit who is anti-prohibition hasn’t connected the dots. Ya have ta wonder.
I keep hearing that the 2nd protects all other rights. Well OK. Where are the other pro-gun sites when it comes to protecting the right to smoke anything you damn well please?
I did a couple of bits on this a while back but they bear repeating:
Guns And Weed – The Road To Freedom
Rights are indivisible MOFOs.

Let’s face it, it’s hard for any of us to admit we were wrong, we made a mistake, etc.
That’s especially true concerning political policies that decide when and when not to use the violent coercive powers of the state in the service of some perceived good. Proposing this type of violence is serious business, so one had better be right. Obviously, those that propose and support government approved and initiated violence think it morally justified.
As has been pointed out by the anti-WOD agitators over the years, those that have supported the illiberal, immoral and unjust drugs laws have brought more death, pain and heartache than drug abuse ever could. So naturally, the drug warriors downplay or ignore those results. If it ever would sink in, they would then have to admit they were wrong policy-wise, which in turns means the violence they supported was and is immoral.
It’s one thing for politicos and bureaucrats to admit to a political policy mistake regarding taxes, education, or healthcare as any damage here is economic, generally speaking. It’s quite another to admit to a mistake in the area of criminal law when that mistake has led to deaths of tens, perhaps hundreds, of thousands and the ruination of the lives of millions more over the decades. Who wants that on their conscience?
So no, the political classes don’t want to look there.
Good point Randy.
I think that when the Drug War falls there will be a depression in this country worse than post-Vietnam.
