Do something now, for God’s the State’s sake!

I am often glad I don’ t have kids, because the state would own them if I did.

In addition to making it cause for SWAT team invasions for the “crime” of not being hooked up to the power grid, the bureaucratic authorities claim that “social isolation” also provides cause for investigation (and of course legal home invasion by armed bureaucrats):

DCFS spokesman Kendall Marlowe said the agency is investigating allegations of neglect against Degner’s mother, although DCFS had no previous contact with the family. Three minor siblings between the ages of 12 and 17 were removed from the home. Upon their release from a hospital, they are now receiving medical care and therapy, Marlowe said.

Marlowe said the case is a stark reminder of the dangers of social isolation.

“Social isolation is one of the most powerful risk factors for serious harm to children,” Marlowe said…

If coming under the rubric (OK, penumbra) of what public policy degree holders consider “risk factors” for “social harm” is now cause for the loss of our freedom, then what isn’t? Liberals and social conservatives will obviously assess “risk factors for social harm” differently, but ultimately they’re both glad to have the power to do something.

About “risk factors.”

A power I would hasten to add does not exist under the Constitution.

(If only we still had one…)

MORE: I don’t mean to sound hysterical, so if anyone can point to a “risk factors for social harm” exception in the Bill of Rights, I’ll be glad to shut up.

(Sorry, but asserting that there is no right to be wrong doesn’t cut it.)
