Chicago Honors Heroin Addict With Street Naming

That would be Halsted Street. Named after the founder of modern surgery. William Stewart Halsted. Who was a life long heroin addict.

I propose we petition Chicago to change the street name. It sends a bad message to the kids.

Will anyone except a few blog readers and medical history enthusiasts even know that fact?
Like the Constitution, this is, like, real old and not germane.
Maybe they could change the name to Albert DeSalvo Avenue.

Balbo is also due to a renaming.

I like fun facts that don’t fit the narrative. i.e. heroin turns you into a zombie.

In movies and TV programs, some stories depict a drug addict shaking, trembling and otherwise looking rather ill.

In discussing the scene or story, someone will inevitably call attention to that part and say something along the lines of “See what drugs do.”

I correct them and tell them it’s not the drugs doing that, it’s the withdrawal from drugs doing that.

    Makes ’em mad.
