A lose-lose no matter what?

If Roy Moore wins tonight (which I think he will), Trump loses.

And, if Roy Moore loses, Trump also loses.

That’s the price of deliberately shackling himself to such a nutcase.

UPDATE: Wow. Much as I hate to say it, I think congratulations — of a perverse sort, obviously — are in order for Roy Moore! He actually managed to lose to a Democrat in Alabama, which is quite an accomplishment.

While there’s probably a lesson in this for the Republicans (who could easily have won this race), I doubt they will learn it. I for one have been sick to death of being inundated with an unending stream of the man’s smarmy and sanctimonious fund-raising emails, which I have been humiliated to receive (and which damned near caused me to donate to his opponent).

Never have I been more glad to be a libertarian.

May the spirit of Andrew Breitbart help push Steve Bannon into a well-deserved grave.

I’d hope for an attack of sanity in Alabama – but that would require a vote for “none of the above” – and NOTA, unfortunatly, is not on the ballot.

It’s looking like Jones won. This will cause a little turmoil in Republican ranks and put the tax bill in jeopardy. In the long run it probably won’t make much of a difference. The GOP is on life support anyway when they have to depend on the election a theocratic imbecile.

Kathy, I think the write-in vote amounts to NOTA, and it appears that this tipped the election results:

With almost all of the votes counted, write-in votes numbered close to 23,000. Jones’ margin of victory, meanwhile, was a little under 21,000. Write-in votes made up just 0.12 percent of the vote when Jeff Sessions won re-election to the U.S. senate from Alabama in 2008 but represented 1.7 percent of the vote Tuesday. Thus, assuming the vast majority of those votes would otherwise have gone for Moore, write-in votes had a decisive impact.

I am philosophically inclined towards libertarianism. However, I was deeply involved with the Libertarian Party in the 1990s, and actual Libertarians are to a large extent a collection of fools, losers and whack jobs[1]. These are the people who ran Andre Marrou for president, for one example. Uselesstarians. 1% of the vote serves no purpose. A fringe weirdo party. Might as well vote communist for all the effect it will have.

Well, the sovereign people of the great state of Alabama have elected a left wing loon instead of a Christian loon. Whoopie! Sometimes I regret that Hell doesn’t actually exist, there needs to be a place for these asswipes of all stripes to burn forever.

Since none of the above isn’t an actual electable category the end result of a large NOTA vote will be a declared candidate elected through a plurality, not a majority. Probably a worse situation, and a step towards European-style proportional representation. You can see how well that works in places like Germany and Sweden.

[1] for example, self-proclaimed “objectivists” who seriously believe that non-euclidian geometry is evil. Not just wrong, but an eeeeeevil social metaphysician plot to subdue and subjugate our precious bodily fluids, or something. Gag.

I heard 20k NOTA – but that’s still pretty significant.

I doubt Jones will be re-elected in 2 years, but I don’t think Moore will be either.

The following is from another blog site and is on the mark…
    – Democrats vs Republicans is a gross fallacy and misnomer, but an intentional one. Both are different ‘wings’ of the establishment Uniparty, one is just further Left than the other, while both are now Left of being right.
    – Democrats are the Communist-wing of the Uniparty, funded by $oro$ and his ilk and representing them.
    – Republicans are the Socialist-wing of the Uniparty, funded by the Chamber of Commerce and their ilk and representing them.
    – Both wings of the Uniparty are open borders globalists who represent themselves being in power over the best interests of the voters, because clearly they as the self-identified ‘betters’ know what’s best for the dummies that bother to vote…after all, voters ‘fell for’ the big con, there being NO Democrat vs. Republican anymore ONLY the “establishment” and the Uniparty.

This way every election is “heads we win, tails you lose” for the voters…much like the miracle six-in-a-row coin tosses Hillary ‘won’ in the fake Democratic Primary.
    – Today is just another example of the Uniparty’s “we win, you lose” fraud.

@captain – I don’t doubt we’ll see more of that – on both sides. Probably more on the right, though, since most of them actually admit it’s wrong.
