M. Simon’s post reminded me of today’s Sunday “prayer.”
I get a lot of annoying email from people calling themselves “patriots,” but if they’re not careful they’ll lose control of the word. (As well as their prayers, regardless of what the pope actually says…)
I often think we’re living in ridiculous times.
Yet, it seems that the more ridiculous people are, the more seriously they take themselves.

Too true, unfortunately. That’s why we should laugh at them – and make it obvious we are doing so.
The left has always worked by appropriating and corrupting language. The meanings of liberal, progressive and democratic, for example. Patriotic is next.
capitalism is amoral (not imoral) when capitalists try to make it a religion as the free market fanatics do. socialism and communism were reactions to it failings. there will be more.
I didn’t think Marxists prayed for anything. Who would they pray to?
Thanks!
As you can see I’m not keeping up. Why? Because politics is ridiculous.
