“What The Hell’s Going In Chicago?” Trump asks.
If you read Chicago newspapers, as I do from time to time, it is not hard to figure out what is going on. There is gang warfare over the heroin trade.
The cartel allegedly unloaded heroin from hidden panels in the buses to warehouses in Aurora and Batavia in the western suburbs, according to the federal complaint. The U.S. attorney’s office filed a 131-page complaint against Vega and his co-defendants on Dec. 8.
Such alleged heroin operations are the top priority for the DEA in Chicago, where more people are seeking treatment for addiction to the drug than anywhere else in the country, Wichern said.
“Our focus is to save lives,” he said.
Save lives? I don’t think so. The main function of the DEA is to support the Drug Cartels while pretending to make war on them. It is the war which keeps cartel profits up.
“Whose interests are served by the drug war? The U.S. government enforces a drug cartel. The major beneficiaries from drug prohibition are the drug lords, who can maintain a cartel that they would be unable to maintain without current government policy.” — Milton Friedman
Prohibition is in effect a price support system for criminals. We learned that from the War On Alcohol – didn’t we?
Well OK. We could look at the source of the demand for heroin. Dr. Lonny Shavelson found that 70% of female heroin users had been sexually molested in childhood. So why isn’t there a war on child abuse? The source of rather a LOT of the demand for heroin? I assume there is no war on that because those in authority favor the cartels. And because there is no profit in it for them.
This cartoon sums up the situation nicely.

We knew how to solve the problems caused by Alcohol Prohibition.
