Some of you may recall my article Stop The Smart Grid. I noted then that I had lost a writing job over it. My editors wanted me to write up how great the Smart Grid would be and I thought it was a really stupid idea.
Well I ran across this today. FBI Warns of Cyber Threat to Electric Grid.
Three months after a Department of Homeland Security intelligence report downplayed the threat of a cyber attack against the U.S. electrical grid, DHS and the FBI began a nationwide program warning of the dangers faced by U.S. utilities from damaging cyber attacks like the recent hacking against Ukraine’s power grid.
The “Smart Grid” is still a stupid idea.

The F35 is internet connected. It’s maintenance program (ALYS?) resides on a server somewhere in the US, and it can prevent any F35 from taking off if its maintenance is not up to snuff.
Could a hacker shut down our F35 squadrons?
Diane Glick thinks it is a threat to Israel; the US could veto any Israeli mission it didn’t like.
The Israelis re-engineer the stuff they buy from us. If you know about this – so do they. If they buy the F-35 they will fix it.
