Well Rush doesn’t exactly say that. What he says is Let’s face it, Trump’s abortion answer was “hugely damaging” to the cause of beating the Democrats.
Yes it is Rush. And I have been saying it for years. “If the Republicans would give up the culture war and focus strictly on economics they would be unbeatable.” That doesn’t mean that issues other than economics can’t be addressed. But they should be addressed from an economic viewpoint.
So you will probably say that such issues can’t develop the emotion that gets people to vote. I think that is easily handled by “that policy is robbing us blind”.
I’m looking forward to the point in the campaign where Trump demolishes Prohibition. That should be nearly as exciting as his take down of abortion as an election issue.
What ever happens in this election – no matter who is elected – politics is not going to be the same.

Abortion isn’t a social issue: It’s a matter of the individual’s right not to be aborted.
OTOH, the abortion rate has been declining for over two decades. If that continues, the issue may become moot in less time than it takes to ban it.
