Hawaii May Decriminalize All Drugs

From Investment Watch.

Following Portugal’s model, Hawai`i could become the first state in the U.S. to decriminalize all drugs — including cocaine and even heroin.

The war is slowly winding down.

The war on drugs most problematic effects are in its pursuit of dealers and traffickers. This is what has made the business lucrative and violent, caused addicts to steal to obtain drug money, and burdened the tax payers [sic] and criminal justice system,” Libertarian Party of Hawai`i Chair, Tracy Ryan, submitted in support of the study, with the recommendation to examine pre-1914 U.S. drug policy.

The Libertarian Party of Hawaii? That is very amazing. In 2009 the Cato Institute issued a report on the Portuguese success. Maybe people are finally getting around to reading it.

I wonder what the Republicans will have to say about this?

I’ve advocated for the provision of pure meth without charge to those who wish to consume meth.

In forty pound bags. Delivered daily.

    Oregon guy,

When meth was a legal drug relatively easy to get a prescription for, “I need to lose weight”, we didn’t have the problems with it we have these days.

The magnitude is now 10X or 100X what it was back then.

Most of the problems we have are caused by the black market.

In WWII America handed out meth and Benzedrine by the ton to troops and workers. It’s how Rosie the Riveter was able to clock in 3 consecutive 8 hour shifts.

This coming argument will separate the pragmatists from the puritans.
