Who’s winning the battle of the Borgias?

Notwithstanding my last flippant post, I do have something good to say about this election: it is going to be interesting. A lot more so than those in recent memory.

While digesting what we call “the news,” it has long been my habit to switch back and forth from CNN to Fox, so I can compare the relative coporate mass media biases of “the left” versus “the right.”

Never before have I seen what I am seeing right now. Instead of CNN being simply the leftist, Democrat (in this case Hillary) machine, with Fox as the rightist, conservative, GOP machine, I am seeing the two networks as almost competing with each other to help defeat Trump.

I don’t like Trump, but, much like Mitt Romney they seem to be playing into his hands. No one seems to get that the guy is a tar baby: you mess with him and you get mired in his sticky goo.

From a personal perspective, after I saw him repeat his slogans of sweet nothingness one too many times I was getting bored with Trump, and until the other day I was dismissing him as not that bright. But then, just a couple of days ago, I saw him pull of a brilliantly Machiavellian maneuver: he simply suggested that Rubio leave the race and let him run against Ted Cruz.

This is classic triangulation. It steals Cruz’s issue and, by making it Trump’s, it seriously weakens Cruz. Takes the wind right out of his sails. Nothing like your enemy agreeing with you. Even more brilliantly, it guarantees than Rubio will NOT quit. I think it is obviously in Trump’s interest to have Rubio stay in, and there is no better way to do this that telling him to quit and let Trump and Cruz go one on one (which is what Trump does not want despite his protestations). Shrewd, cunning, and pure Machiavelli.

Unlike his enemies, Trump plays politics the old-fashioned way.

Modern conservatism is revealed for what it is – an aeolian sack of bloviation, all hat and no cattle, all fries and no burger, all ice and no vodka.

Trump is standing athwart history shouting yabba dabba doo.

Plot for a light hearted comedy:

Real estate mogul and all around lout Stephen Dump realizes his entire business empire is collapsing, The Dump Tower, Dump Casino, Dump Hotel, Dump Restaurants, even Dump Trash Removal are all losing money hand over fist. He’s a billionaire alright, billions in negative numbers, that is.

His only hope now is to run for president and use the power of the executive to end his financial woes. Hilarity ensues as the ignorant fool flails hopelessly trying to articulate anything that even resembles a coherent policy or even makes sense.

    MMM,

You are evaluating Trump as if he was a conventional politician. He is not.

Here is how it is working:

“All these people hate Trump and call him a racist? I’m for him. The more they attack him the more I’m for him.”

Every SJW and MSM attack just adds to his support.

On rational grounds I probably should be for Cruz at this point. But I’m not feeling rational (as if my vote or opinion counted). A middle finger to the SJWs. TRUMP.

Maybe Trump is a ringer for Hillary. If so then so far it’s been a cost effective strategy since Trump’s spent less than $30 million vs. Hillary’s $100 million.

If that’s the case and that strategy stops working then look for the establishment Republicans and all Democrats to switch their Hitler comparisons from Trump to Cruz. Because according to Hillary: We have to make America whole. We have to fill in, fill in what’s been hollowed out.

Who hollowed it out? Wasn’t Obama …absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth? Apparently, instead America was hollowed out. How can that be?

The surprising popularity of Trump and Sanders, is it just the first time in generations that a candidate has an unmodulated NY accent? (and attitude) We’re in Al Smith territory here. I’m from Brooklyn, so yez can lump it.
