OTOH National Review just devoted an entire issue to attacking Trump. I can remember when I gave a shit what National Review thought. What’s their readership these days, 30,000? I once wrote Jonah Goldberg at NR about their light coverage of the Drug War.
He seemed to be of the persuasion {nose up in the air} “Humph. Drugs. Druggies.”
Not exactly in favor of Prohibition. But not interested in doing much about it. And that was Bill Buckley’s legacy on that subject at NR.
Remember that Buckley’s NR devoted an entire issue to arguments against the drug war. Buckley was at least highly in favor of medical marijuana. Others, like Milton Friedman point out the incredible waste and erosion of civil liberties. Buckley was not a reflexive, knee-jerk, spinal reflex conservative, unlike so many of his successors. Fuck “conservatives” anyway, what did they ever do for me?
