Civilization and Savagery

The real gap in this country isn’t race, or income, or gender, or sexual orientation, or politics.

You are correct. I’d cover that lady’s back any day of the week. And trust her to cover mine.

I bow to another bellicose woman.

Lady, if there were more like you, the world would be a far better place.

so you want to ban guns? you want all black areas police states? the girls death was a horrible act of gun violence but the price we are willing to pay for the second amendment. the black community is not willing to allow a war on black lives by white authority get used to it.

The gun was stolen and used in an act of savagery. No laws or policing can conjure civilization out of savagery, it has to be chosen freely.

It goes back to LBJ’s famous quote:

I’ll have those n*ggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.

~ Lyndon B. Johnson to two governors on Air Force One

His Assistant Secretary of Labor Pat Moynihan warned LBJ about the likely consequences, to no avail. And of course rich, European American Marxists continue to fund the destabilization of the African American culture.

Dem’s just want to keep blacks down on the plantation, barefoot and pregnant and pulling that “D” lever.

The lure of savagery tends to capture young men or women of any race who are not carefully inculcated in civilization.

Cap’n: so true. And that’s the most wonderful thing about the Obama administration’s tenure: All the racial healing!

It’s too darned bad that he can’t be president forever. A third term would almost certainly result in all of us having our skin turn to a nice, cafe au lait color, and once a day we’d sit down and sing Kumbaya. And although the performer is a Person of the Incorrect Color, it’s OK ’cause he’s a fellow traveler.

“The gun was stolen and used in an act of savagery. No laws or policing can conjure civilization out of savagery, it has to be chosen freely.”

In that case, why should black people bother protesting against black gang violence when there is nothing they can do about it? On the other hand, police brutality is a clearly an issue that can be resolved by changing the law. Systems and institutions can be reformed. Governments can be reformed. You can’t protest gang violence. You can work with youth organizations an encourage young blacks to play football or soccer and get involved in building a community

I don’t know why this is so difficult for you guys to understand. It is possible to protest police brutality and also protest gang violence.

    CapitalistRoader,

Republicans are not doing much better with their support of prohibition.

    Simon,

The GOP hardly has a monopoly on draconian drug laws and the resulting mass incarceration of African Americans.

TheAJ — Did you watch the video? She was complaining that the protests were for a violent criminal who was killed shooting at police who were serving a warrant. There is indeed a very long tradition of protesting against criminal violence, she is telling them to join that proud tradition of shaming criminals, stop supporting a savage, and help address a problem roughly 100x worse than police misconduct — which didn’t even happen in the incident they’re protesting.

Civilization is a choice. Racists can obsess over skin color, but in the end you either support savagery or you support civilization. She made the case for civilization, and she deserves to be applauded for it.

Also, part of choosing to be civilized is basic politeness. Please try to be less offensive.

…why should black people bother protesting against black gang violence when there is nothing they can do about it?…You can’t protest gang violence.

I thought she did a pretty good job of protesting gang violence. And they can do something about it. As John Roberts wrote: “The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.” Similarly, the way to stop gang violence is to stop being in gangs, and stop being violent. That can only happen at the grassroots level and that women is doing a bang-up job of starting that effort.

    CapitalistRoader,

None the less Republican voters are the last major reservoir of support for Prohibition. Just as they were for that other Prohibition in 1932.
