OK, so what happened in Ferguson? Isn’t it about time we knew?

Earlier I saw some fascinating information posted at Gateway Pundit stating that the police officer who killed Michael Brown was severely injured during the altercation:

Local St. Louis sources said Wilson suffered an “orbital blowout fracture to the eye socket.” This comes from a source within the District Attorney’s office and confirmed by the St. Louis County Police.

Unfortunately, I am wholly unable to find any report anywhere confirming what the sources are quoted as saying. Only requotes of the post.)

One question. Why has this not been reported?

If the story is true, something is very, very wrong. It would mean that not only are the District Attorney, and the St. Louis County Police not doing their job, but neither are any of the news media (whether liberal or conservative).

Does anyone know more about this?

MORE: Some Freepers are also looking for confirmation.

UPDATE: The story is now being confirmed here.

Darren Wilson, the Ferguson, Mo., police officer whose fatal shooting of Michael Brown touched off more than a week of demonstrations, suffered severe facial injuries, including an orbital (eye socket) fracture, and was nearly beaten unconscious by Brown moments before firing his gun, a source close to the department’s top brass told FoxNews.com.

“The Assistant (Police) Chief took him to the hospital, his face all swollen on one side,” said the insider. “He was beaten very severely.”

Why are they only now telling us this after a week of rioting?

MORE: Reason‘s Nick Gillespie thinks the timing is fishy too:

Is it possible that Ferguson authorities have managed to make an even bigger mess of things by withholding information that might have quelled some of the rage residents felt in the wake of Brown’s shooting?

Yes, but why?

    Two alternatives:

    1) It’s not true.

    2) Just like with the Zimmerman case and “getting his head smashed into the pavement”, it doesn’t fit the narrative.

    3) Some of 2 with a bunch of “the reporter types mostly haven’t even heard of it, and some of them assume #1”.

Couldn’t guess on the odds as to which it is, though. Either is quite possible.

I really can’t say whether or not this shooting was justified. But there is no doubt in my mind that blacks and latinos are subject to more police scrutiny as compared to whites. And this unequal treatment is what really lies behind the rage and resentment in minority neighborhoods. Conservatives would do well to understand this as it could serve them well politically in minority communities if they did.

And I know I and others here have beat the poor corpse of that dead horse so often that we are really just pounding the ground now, but ending the WOD would do a lot to improve relations between police and minorities.

this is what happened. Do not fear in the presence of free men tremble in the presence of slaves when they brake their chains! Thomas Jefferson. By any means necessary! Malcom X. The black community is no longer protecting Obama they are now protecting themselves.

The facts of this matter do not matter anymore.

Of course, that’s much like everything else so really, at this point what difference does it make?

Blacks and Hispanics commit crimes at several times the rate of whites. Why shouldn’t they be under increased scrutiny?

I just don’t see that the facts in this case would make a difference one way or another, any more than they did in the riots after the Rodney King incident or the celebrations after the O.J. Trial. If tomorrow video surfaced showing the deceased waving a chainsaw over his head while chasing the police office, do you think the rioters would all say, “Opps, so sorry, never mind” and all go home? If a grand jury is convened and no evidence is found and the office is not charged, do you think the African American community will think justice is served? I can’t imagine the facts will have any bearing on this case.

Cap a cracks me up. He and the protesters are dancing to the community organizers’ tune, the tune called by the White House. So are the cops on the other side of the face-off. The Administration will turn out the black vote in November no matter how many blacks they have to kill in order to get it done.

Wrong again niel as usual. This came from the bottom up not top down. The interesting thing is this is the first major insurrection in the south we will see how it goes.

Right, and that’s why they had to bus protestors in from all over the country, why few of the protestors are actually from Ferguson.

Who paid for all that transportation, cap? Like I said, you’re a joke. You crack me up. You just can’t wait ’till the race war starts so you can kill whitey.

You’re exactly the same as the KKK idiots.

I am part white and part native american and some of the protestors are white even some of the violent ones.
