Not so fast!

For the past two days, it really seemed like Spring was here. Temperatures rose to the 50s, and the huge mountains of show were busily melting away. For the first time in months, I could walk without having to balance myself on the ice.

Today is a different story.

It’s pretty much certain Wednesday’s storm will make the winter of 2013-14 the snowiest winter in Ann Arbor’s history after a little more than two inches of overnight snow.

Unofficially, the overnight snowfall brings the total for the 2013-14 snow season to 88.4 inches. The all-time record was set in the 2007-08 snow season, when 89.8 inches of snow fell on the area.

The snow was already wreaking havoc on the morning commute, with dispatchers reporting multiple crashes on area freeways. Washtenaw County dispatchers reported crashes on westbound Interstate 94 at Jackson Road, Scio Church Road, Michigan Avenue and U.S 23.

Southbound U.S. 23 was also a troublesome spot, with reports of crashes at Warren Road, both interchanges with M-14 and Plymouth Road.

The snow will actually worsen during the morning commute, said Sarah Schultz, meteorologist at the National Weather Service.

They closed the schools, but there are accidents all over the place.

I guess I shouldn’t have been so optimistic about Spring actually, like, arriving. Maybe it will by July.

For her part, Coco does not mind at all. She ran right out to dig up her favorite toy.

She doesn’t understand why I am not as enthusiastic.

Hope her tire isn’t freeze-welded to the ground like most things up here.

    My dog is very jealous.

He enjoys blizzards, he just sits in them and lets the snow cover him.

But alas, he’s here in the desert not enjoying 55 degree nights and 80 degree days.

I, on the other hand, have been torturing my family in upstate NY.

“Happy Birthday!!!!!! Did you get that foot of snow I sent?”
