USS Enterprise at the Battle of Midway

I was part of this Enterprise task group in 1966. I was a reactor operator in training aboard the USS Bainbridge DLG(N)-25. I spent time in Idaho training. I was trained and qualified on the prototype of the Enterprise reactors. I spent about three months at Yankee Station in the South China Sea. I got combat pay for being in the war zone. Other than a few hours off DaNang listening to the arty from the fight on shore I didn’t have much war to deal with. I did get to watch jets taking off from the Enterprise if I didn’t have duty after morning muster. All the ships of that long ago nuclear task force are now in the bone yard.
