I can remember that not so long ago, Google was criticized for cooperating with China and other countries which combat Internet freedom. We Americans tend to take it for granted that we live in the land of the free — an open country opposed to such totalitarianism.
Right?
Wrong! As Bruce Schneier points out, this country is doing all it can to subvert the Internet
Today, the Guardian is reporting on how the NSA targets Tor users, along with details of how it uses centrally placed servers on the internet to attack individual computers. This builds on a Brazilian news story from last week that, in part, shows that the NSA is impersonating Google servers to users; a German story on how the NSA is hacking into smartphones; and a Guardian story from two weeks ago on how the NSA is deliberately weakening common security algorithms, protocols, and products.
The common thread among these stories is that the NSA is subverting the internet and turning it into a massive surveillance tool. The NSA’s actions are making us all less safe, because its eavesdropping mission is degrading its ability to protect the US.
Read it all. By attacking the Internet, the NSA is shooting itself in the foot. Not that a little thing like that ever mattered to totalitarian lovers.
Meanwhile, the Obama regime is going out of its way to insult elderly war veterans, inconvenience ordinary citizens and harass legitimate businesses in a game they call “government shutdown.”
That they are spending more money to keep people off the land that is owned by all of us than it would cost to let them in as usual.
Tyranny is the only word for it.

That right there is one of the stupidest things you’ve written, and that’s saying something.
back in the late 1960’s and 1970’s I actually heard conservatives say this when people in the anti-war movment complained about the cointel program aimed at sabotaging the anti war movment such as nixon having agent provocaturs go into a crowd of anti-war protester who were to peaceful and having nixons agents throw rocks at him for sympathy! Agents of the cointel program murdered an anti-war activist in san diego who would’t commit illegal acts for them! They were called the secret army.
The rock throwing incident accured at san francisco airport according to church commission.
Strange… I recall Instapundit (who sometimes appears to be the spokesman of the dextrosphere) complaining about the Patriot Act at the time…
OTOH, my complaint about the NSA program is that it looks far more suspicious when they try to keep it secret. “If you have nothing to hide etc.” actually does make sense and it should also be applied to the government.
[…] one thing to “close“ popular national parks, restaurants, bodies of water, and even views, but the way they are […]
But the PBS told me the parks and stuff belong to me. Wha Happened!!
