Illinois Is Going For Decrim

Occasional poster Dave sent me a couple of links on my favorite subject. Prohibition.

First let us start with current news. Illinois House Committee Passes Decrim Bill (HB2332) by 9-5 vote! . The bill would make 15 grams – about 1/2 an ounce – an offense that could be dealt with by local ordinance.

Now here is the interesting part. The bill as introduced was called. “CANNABIS-ONE-TENTH GRAM” and specified penalties for what amounts to pipe residue. All that was stripped out of the bill and new language making the changes I noted above were added.

Back in 2009 Illinois Governor Pat Quinn said he was open to various localities dealing with marijuana prohibition in their own way. And now we have a bill.

So what is this really all about? Illinois is an Al Capone State. And what the Boys have figured out is that as long as they can retain control of production and distribution (above half an ounce) it makes no sense to be arresting customers.

Bingo! Progressives will never end the drug war. They’ll just join forces with the Mob.

Will join forces with the Mob? They did a long time ago.

New York City cigarette taxes being a case in point.

Um. But. Baby steps. Get that teeny-tiny foot in the door. And good luck.
