Not Fade Away

Eric reminded me at dinner last night that the Rolling Stones got their start in America when this cover of a Buddy Holly tune made the charts. The Stones are celebrating 50 years in music.

Here is the Buddy Holly original.

And since Eric and I are long time Dead Heads this collection wouldn’t be complete without a Dead version. This one was at Alpine Valley (Wisconsin) in ’89. I was at that show with the first mate. If you listen very closely you can hear me in the audience. 😉

To all my friends and fans: Love for real not fade away.

And just because, another Alpine Valley Dead recording:

If I recall correctly we took our kids to this one. But it may have been a different one. I’ll have to consult the first mate.

Where’s Rush? Their first single was a cover of Not Fade Away!

Yeah – Rush – shows “good taste”. But the GD – lol – that shows. Um. I dunno. COOL. Cool, baby, cool. Or something. Maybe just a sense that all of that ability, that talent, that “doesn’t fit in -but we love them anyway” is being stifled nowadays.

On BOTH sides of the fence.

Oh and thank you for Uncle John’s Band. Just because it makes me smile…and smiles are too few and far between nowadays.

    Nicely collated. And thanks!
