Another day, another “wrong house” dog shooting

Speaking of savages, I think the word is entirely appropriate to describe the actions of a group of armed thugs who forced their way into a home, shot and killed the family pet, chained up the children, and forced them “to sit next to the carcass of their dead and bloody pet for more than an hour” while they ransacked the house.

No, the armed thugs were not Crips or Bloods; they were law enforcement authorities — including the DEA. They “kept searching even after they knew they were raiding the wrong house.”

“Each plaintiff was forced to the floor at gun and rifle point and handcuffed behind their backs.

“Defendants shot and killed the family dog and forced the handcuffed children to sit next to the carcass of their dead pet and bloody pet for more than an hour while defendants continued to search the plaintiffs’ home.”

One child “was kicked in the side, handcuffed and searched at gunpoint,” the family says.

Another child, a girl, “a diabetic, was handcuffed at gunpoint and prevented by officer from obtaining and taking her medication, thus induced a diabetic episode as a result of low-blood sugar levels.”

If the information is correct, there is absolutely no excuse for this savagery. None. I’m sure the police will claim they made a “mistake” as they always do, but so what if they had the wrong house? How does that entitle them to  shoot the family dog, and then handcuff grief-stricken children next to his bleeding body??  It wouldn’t matter whether they had the right house; the kids were not suspects, and never accused of anything.

Seriously, I can’t begin to imagine how that would have traumatized me as a child. The civilized mind recoils at such behavior. Words fail me. If you think about it, the fact that these feral cops were doing such a thing under color of law makes it worse than if it had been done by “normal” criminal invaders. Because at least when you are victimized by regular criminals, not only are you afforded the right to self defense, but there is the possibility of criminal accountability if they are caught. I don’t think a lawsuit provides an adequate remedy here. What the police did ought to be considered a crime. If they did what is alleged, they should go to jail and so should the judge who signed the mistaken warrant. Instead, they will in all probability remain on their stinking force and be promoted.

This just keeps happening over and over, and almost always the excuse is that the cops were looking for drugs. A victimless, possessory offense.

Things like this are not supposed to happen in a free country.

“It can’t happen here.” And yet it IS happening here.

    “First they came for….”

And we wonder how such monstrous thing could happen in another civilized country at another time.

It is pretty easy. You make pariahs of some people and then you can do what ever you want to them.

and the punch line of that piece is:

And why am I so confident of my plan? Because it has worked before in Germany against the Jews.

The guilty officers should be fired, barred from ever holding a law enforcement position again, and jailed.

Their superiors should be pilloried, whipped, and jailed.

It shouldn’t happen, and it especially shouldn’t be so routine.
