Eric sent me a link to Patterico who is discussing the latest SWATing incident and peripherally his SWATing. Well I had to drop one on him. You may be amused. Or not.

Militarized Police are a threat to liberty.
First they came for the dopers…
And I applauded.
Then they came for Patterico….
And I was appalled.

Isn’t it ironic that the biggest complainers about the nanny state love the most visible nanny state program going?

Right on.
Here’s the problem. The Supreme Court has created a vast “emergency exception” to the Fourth Amendment:

Of course, emergency does not mean real emergency; a fictional allegation of emergency will suffice. Add to that the modern trend that anything is an emergency and the Fourth Amendment is gone.
If an angry neighbor (or a hacker crank in Amsterdam or Nigeria) calls your local police anonymously and claims there’s an emergency at your home, your Fourth Amendment rights vanish.
As to why people put up with such unmitigated tyranny, I don’t know.
At minimum, police should refuse to treat non-911 calls as emergencies. Asking the caller to call 911 (which requires at least being in the 911 area) might help, but I doubt they would even implement that, as they are always looking for an excuse to do something.
I’m always amused at watching you smugly sneer at conservatives, over and over, the same way every time. I’m sure they will learn their lesson one day!
Did everyone die at Fukushima yet?

Or Mark, you can go over this list and take your pick:

I especially like this one that included 31 officers from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, Drug Enforcement Administration, Border Patrol, National Guard and Park Service to murder one man in his home. Even though no pot was found it took the family 8 years & 15 attorneys to win a $5,000,000 settlement.

Glad you are amused.
Mark,
Drug Prohibition is the most visible nanny state program. It is an enabler of the left. After all if protection from drugs is a good idea why not protection from meat. Or sodas too large. Or sugar. Or a million other “protections”.
“Conservatives” are enablers of the left. Ironic. Or intentional?
Fukushima has destroyed the nuclear industry in Japan. American nuclear is just starting to recover from TMI.
