Writing Off The Middle East

With the new technologies developed for oil and natural gas recovery the oil and gas market is changing. Poland may become a player in the natural gas market. Poland! Israel has discovered huge reserves of gas. And oil. Israel!

What does all this mean? Well the Middle East is going to become a lot less important in world politics.

And thus more and more people are willing to write off the Middle East as a lost cause. And keep those crazy people away. Far far away. Let them sort themselves out. With a little help for our friends.

Some have advocated complete separation between the non-Israeli Middle East and the rest of civilization. The more I read about the Middle East, the more sense that makes.

Take Pakistan. In ten years we haven’t changed at all the ISI’s terrorist culture. I doubt we will bomb them.

I see the only alternative being to blockade Pakistan. As the ISI and the Generals keep playing the Taliban game, cut them off from the rest of the world. Don’t let any Pakistani into the civilized portion of the world.

When/if the petro-dollars flowing into the middle east dry up there will be an explosion of anger, frustration, and Islamic zealotry that will make the Arab Spring look like a firecracker. Oil producers in the region have ridiculous levels of unemployment and wide welfare safety nets. If those collapse the only course will be to channel the resulting firestorm towards Israel, the US and “The West”.
You can really irritate crazy people trying to control or teach them but if you really want to pi$$ them off, ignore them.
