He Is Not One Of Us

It is official now. George Zimmerman (the shooter in the Trayvon Martin case) is officially white. Hispanics have disowned him.

…if George Zimmerman was hoping to find support in the Latino community, he should look elsewhere.

“The Latino community joins the African-American community and other communities in condemning George Zimmerman as what he is – a murderer and a racist,” Roberto Lovato, co-founder of the online Latino advocacy organization Presente.org, told The Daily Caller.

The group is acting on Trayvon’s behalf. Presente.org has joined with Color of Change to petition for the arrest of Martin’s murderer.

Todos somos Trayvon! (We are all Trayvon!),” Presente.org wrote, urging supporters to sign the petition. The group also has a petition to condemn Geraldo Rivera for blaming Martin’s hoodie for his death. According to Lovato, the petition currently has 18,000 signatures.

Well OK my friends you are all Trayvon.

Duly noted.

Picture cribbed from the Daily Caller which notes that before Trayvon was @NO_LIMIT_NIGGA he was @T33ZY_TAUGHT_M3.

I’m having a hard time distinguishing this from racist claptrap that sees any black kid doing kid shit as a presumed criminal and deserved what was coming to him. Don’t blame the victim.

    rustbelt,

Yeah. I thought long and hard before posting. And then thought again.

Maybe I’m just getting old and cranky. But I find the glorification of gangsta culture to be a bad thing. Evidently you do too or you would not have taken offense.

I consider it one of the very unfortunate side effects of prohibition.

BTW in this instance the character of the “victim” may have some bearing on the events leading up to his death. If he was a NWA or worse a wannabe he may have been a hot head looking for trouble. Which would explain his doubling back after he had “gotten away”.

Some very smart friends of my brother’s explained it too me a long time ago. If you go head to head with THE MAN then THE MAN owns you.

rustbelt, it’s not a question of whether Trayvon Martin “deserved what was coming to him.” Nor is it a question of race. The legal question is simply whether Zimmerman had a right to defend himself with lethal force. Did Zimmerman have a reasonable basis to fear for his life or not? This may have to go to a jury.

None of this is the problem. While I mourn the loss of a child, I struggle to find solace when any man finds himself vilified by the national press in order to misdirect our attention from the matters that are clearly of national importance, to matters that are clearly of local importance.

Simon, I know that you’re aware of the conviction that occurred today, of a man who killed two visitors to Florida. The convicted man was 17 years old. It is important, solely based upon its absence in the national press.

One case is prominent. One, discarded.

The perniciousness lies in the construction of a meme. White Hispanic murders innocent Black. Duh-whaa?

    Skittles?

None of this rises to the level of national importance, and yet, it has. Could it be that this is the result of three years of healing and a post-racial society?

Of course it is a distraction. You can’t always choose where the battle starts – or ends – Gettysburg.

And yet, here we are, arguing over tu quoque.

My worry is that this may turn into an organized attack against armed self defense generally. I’m surprised there haven’t been more incidents like this. Feral teens do not deserve to be shot to death — either by citizens or the cops — simply for being feral teens. However, if they attack, the issue of when and to what extent self defense is justified arises. (I don’t feel at all confident that I know exactly what happened here, but I do think that had Zimmerman been a cop this would have been a media non-event.)

BTW, Tom Maguire has done a lot of work reconstructing the scene where the incident happened:

Maybe someday I will have the authority to speak for an entire race of people. Must be a heady feeling.

rustbelt, what this guy was into was way beyond “kid shit.” He was a punk in the making.

To far too many on the Left anything like criticizing the attitudes of young black urban males would get in the way of the victimization part of the “progressive narrative.” If they want to slam Israel’s aggressive ways with the Palestinians without being called anti-Semites, it has to be generally acceptable to slam street culture without being called racist. It should be publicly acknowledged that street culture, with its mindless celebration of emotion, of impulse, of hedonism and “coolness,” with its encouragement of thin-skinned pride without anything to be proud of– not to mention the violence that comes next– is worthless, and an embarrassment to excellent black Americans everywhere.

So, in the next racial draft, Whites can pick up Zimmerman in the first round. Now who can we trade?

Matt, Mr. Martin had never had any arrests or run-ins with the law of any kind, nor any history of violence whatsoever, unlike his killer. It seems pretty obvious to me that he was an upper-middle class kid playing paper gangster. If you’d like to argue that makes him a “thug in the making”, feel free, but I judge that to be racist claptrap. The fact that Simon agrees with it is deeply disappointing, and I admit I’m shocked by the stance of the small l libertarians on this incident. I genuinely thought they’d be outraged that a southern sheriff in an area with a history of violent racial incidents was going to cover up yet another one.

    rustbelt,

I actually am glad Trayvon was an integral part of helping to bring prohibition to an end.

However, the NWA attitude (redundant) is not helpful.

At age 17 I had no record either. But I was headed in a bad direction. It took me almost until age 30 to straighten myself out.

If I was to name a culprit in all this I would say it was divorce. In my case it was child abuse.

So if I wanted to get really incendiary I would have pointed at child rearing by Blacks. There is copious data out there on the subject.

Basically – if you want to raise thugs see that the kids get plenty of beatings. Some warranted, some not.

I will grant that Tray was a wannabe. Just a little too much wannabe. He got his wish. He died a gangsta.

The question you have to ask yourself is why Tray didn’t go home (where he was staying) when George stopped chasing him?

What made him go back? And no record? Well he had one. Just not with the criminal authorities.

You know. Like how does a bunch of jewelery that isn’t his wind up in his backpack? Along with a screwdriver. I’m sure you can point to Tray’s long record for making and fixing things.

So what do I make of the gold teeth and tats? Bad parenting. A child out of control.

And let me just say this: if you are in the habit of stealing and B&E you are casing everything all the time. So he might very well have been acting suspiciously.

And dude. No ID? That is the MO of a criminal. Could it fit other patterns? Yes. The question you have to ask yourself is – what is most likely in this case.

Eric has been attacking the bad parenting angle with his “Feral Children” posts.

Assuming his parents expected Tray to grow up what was their rationale for the gold capped teeth? The new fashion on Wall Street? Engineers are adopting the look?

Tats can be covered. Piercings can be unfilled. But teeth?

What were his parents thinking? Nice middle class folks too. Why would they want their son to have poor chances of staying in the middle class?

    “Trayvon was @NO_LIMIT_NIGGA ”

The kid was a punk. If he had been a real gangster he would have killed Zimmerman. After reviewing his Twitter feed it is clear he was a wannabe gangbanger who pretended he was a tough guy.

And Zimmerman also appears to be a punk, albeit a wannabe cop who thought he was a do gooder hero type.

When a punk meets a punk in a housing hive…

“We are all Trayvon?” Trayvon assumed room temperature after bringing a screwdriver to a gunfight and finally got that gutful of copper jacketed candy he’d been begging for. From your lips to God’s ears, Esse. May a million more half-wit thugs of all colors share his fate. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Live a thug life, die a thug death.
