My friend Patrick Richardson has written an obituary of Andrew Breibart and asked me to if we’d run it. I told him of course. The obituary follows. — Sarah
The Death of a Titan
by Patrick Richardson
I awoke this morning to hear the sad news of the death of a titan. One of whom the liberal gods were frightened indeed.
Andrew Breitbart died shortly after midnight of apparent natural causes at age 43, just a few years older than I am now.
It’s sobering in so many ways. Not least a reminder that I should keep an eye on my health.
The loss to his family is, of course, the greatest, but the loss to the nation cannot be overstated. This was a man unafraid to throw defiance in the very teeth of the liberal establishment. One can almost see him standing in front of Obama being asked “what does my cousin have for me?” and snorting “Defiance! And add to this contempt, and slight regard.”
Breitbart was completely unwilling to be politically correct. To go “softly, softly now,” as the Republican establishment so often admonishes us to do. To avoid offending the delicate sensibilities of the effete ruling class.
This lion of a man roared his outrage and stormed about looking for hypocrisy and arrogance to destroy.
He demanded ethical behavior from the media, and called them on their perfidy. He refused to accept the status quo and set about creating the country he knew we were supposed to be.
He unapologetically used the left’s tactics against them and simply smiled when they acted outraged that anyone would so dare.
We have quite simply lost the greatest warrior for freedom we have seen in at least a generation.
He was an inspiration to me as a blogger and as a journalist. He was what I aspired to be.
He will be missed.

I was never a Breitbart follower, and to see this (from Time) troubles me regarding his “dedication”:
This was Breitbart’s public style, not to make friends—though he was friendly, for one, with progressive publisher Arianna Huffington, whom he helped launch the Huffington Post after apprenticing with The Drudge Report—but to get into opponents’ faces, make a noise and get attention.
First I want to say thanks Sarah, this was originally intended for the PJ Tatler but Bryan just had too many Breitbart posts.
Second, do keep in mind Time Magazine is a liberal rag and no fans of Mr. Breitbart.
As my Mother said…
[…] fellow bloggers have put up memorials to Andrew Breitbart at The Death of a Titan and Andrew Breitbart, R.I.P.. Frank at the last post – always on top of things – […]
Thank you, Jennifer. Even if I disagree with the …, I approve the sentiment.
Hmm. Let me rephrase that. Even if I disagree with the opinion behind the …, I approve the sentiment.
Well said. I have linked you here: http://bobagard.blogspot.com/2012/03/more-from-those-who-appreciated-andrew.html
