Another Leap Year, another perverted and demonic Four Year Plan?

Happy Leap Year Day!

You know you’re getting a little long in the tooth as a blogger when it’s your third consecutive bout of Leap Year Day blogging, but archives are archives, and I thought I would celebrate Leap Year Day by looking at the previous two Classical Values Leap Year Days, and maybe engage in a little meta-analysis in the hope of finding a common thread. Or theme. Or maybe thematic thread.

Co-blogger Dave has not been posting as often as I might like were I his personal dictator and able to order him to write posts, but in an uncanny coincidence, I see that he not only has a Leap Year Day post today, but he also had one on February 29, 2008.

Both touched on the lack of foreign policy (and lack of foreign policy finesse) on the part of Barack Obama, who was a merely an inept candidate on the Last Leap Year Day, as opposed to the inept president he is today. Too bad more voters didn’t pay attention.

On Leap Year’s Day 2008, I was obsessed with political perversions, and I put Mitt Romney on the cover of a Devil Hillary 1950s pulp porn novel.

Fortunately or unfortunately, none of that actually happened. However, four years later, I find a common thread in the latest leftist devilment being dished at Mitt Romney. Tellingly, this is called “Operation Hilarity.” (I guess Kos left out the second “l” to further mislead and confuse us.)

The meta theme is along the lines of perverse and polymorphous political demons who can take a beating and come back for more.

And if that isn’t a common enough thread for you, read on.

Looking back into the ever-more-distant ghosts of Leap Years Past, I see that perverted demons were also on my mind in 2004, when I wrote about heads and crabsHoward Stern, and examined the possible subtext underlying the hatred of shrimp — as evidenced by this intriguing (“morally insolvent and grossly artistic“) painting:

Time for another Great Leap Forward?

Or would that be another Major Leap Backward?

I guess we’ll know in four years.

Not sure why my name is on that 2008 post, it’s actually Simon’s.

More work = less blogging, we’ll see what happens.

    Wow.

Yet more evidence of deranged and perverse devilment!

Well, being that it’s leap year day – and the official “Blogger Appreciation Day” (why should bloggers only be appreciated once every 4 years?), I hereby declare my appreciation of this site.

And this post, even if you do have some WEIRD art on it…
