My friend Karridine reports:
Friends,
Good news, less-good news…
The less-good news is, there’s no NEW flooding hitting us in the Bangkok river-delta flood-basin, and that’s FINE for now.
The GOOD news is, we took flood-relief out to affected Thais (and others) in the Bangkok area this last week, because BAD news is that much of Bangkok is at or below the water-table… THAT’s the problem, Friends… really low-lying (but readily accessible now and we won’t worry about the future until we’re hit by O My Lord! floods…)
Most of the flood-damaged regions are seeing their hip-deep water slowly going down, being drained off through newly-dug drainage canals or pumped out by diesel-driven 14-inch suckers… there’s just SO MUCH WATER…
Pix: the first two show representative images of what’s still left undrained… axle deep mostly with hip-deep in many areas. Some electricity restored, but mostly not, due to outlets underwater.

Helpers-flood1.jpg shows us in a truck (lorry) donated for the day, carrying about a ton of stuff and a ton of people out into the waters…

Rubadubdub shows a not-uncommon means of getaround in the soggier parts of Bangkok, for the smaller folk who fit easily (and are floated safely) in neoprene tubs

UsOldTimers shows some of the my-age volunteers (Boomers now approaching 65) who nevertheless arose and helped the less fortunate here in Bangkok.
Its Christmas, and you have loved ones to focus your generosity, but if you can imagine, for even a moment, what it must be like to wade around in knee-deep water looking for food or help, you might see your way clear to donating your gift to BkkFloodHelp (at) Gmail.com in PayPal.
We thank you, the needy get it, and The Good Lord sees all…
Greatly appreciated, from the jasmine-scented floods of Bangkok,
Karridine
