As the race towards the GOP nomination progresses, President Obama continues to lose (by a slim margin of 0.2%) in a hypothetical race against a generic Republican.
However, he continues to win in hypothetical races against all specific GOP candidates. Here’s how it looks now:
Romney vs. Obama (Romney +2.2)
Paul vs. Obama (Obama +6.0)
Cain vs. Obama (Obama +8.1)
Huntsman vs. Obama (Obama +8.7)
Perry vs. Obama (Obama +9.3)
Gingrich vs. Obama (Obama +10.7)
Santorum vs. Obama (Obama +11)
Bachmann vs. Obama (Obama +14.2)
The last time I looked at the rankings, Sarah Palin was included, but she has now dropped out. Perry has dropped way down more than four points (he was previously 5.1 behind Obama), while Romney has dropped by 1.7 (previously he was only 0.5 behind the Big O). Gingrich has moved up from 15.2 behind to 10.7 behind, Cain is up from 9.3, Paul is slightly down but has moved to number two, borderline non-candidates Bachmann and Huntsman have moved only slightly up, with Santorum staying the same.
The biggest movement down is Perry, and the biggest movement up is Gingrich. It looks as if Gingrich is poised to become the new anti-Romney contender. As my views on Gingrich are well known, I don’t think I need to repeat myself again. It seems that the more I criticize him, the better he does. Which makes me superstitious.
Maybe I should attack someone else, and heap praise on the man I loathe!
Hmmm…. And what should I do if I want to raise Cain? Attack him? No. Fiercely defend unmanly pizza choices?
I’d have to lie, as I share his taste for manly pizza.
Hmmm, I don’t like the way that last sentence looks.
Manliness is becoming such a disease that pretty soon boys will no longer be allowed in men’s locker rooms, and vice-versa. (Seriously, the institutionalization of pedophobia is another of my predictions will may very well come true. Sometimes it seems that all I do is sit around predicting train wrecks, and then watching them happen.)
So just fuhgeddaboudit!

the institutionalization of pedophobia ….
Penn State?
An entire university looked the other way and there are people saying we should excuse them for their transgression.
If it’s any consolation, no candidate with a chance is against the War on (Some) Drugs, so Newt’s just a little out of the mainstream.
No matter who’s elected, the “war” will keep going on.
