Do rascals “rule”?

Of all the things that have been said so far about Rick Perry (and there will of course be many more) I think former president Clinton’s observation is the most interesting:

Speaking at a fire fighter’s conference in midtown Manhattan this morning, Clinton said, “I got tickled by watching Governor Perry announce for governor, for president. He’s a good looking rascal.”

The audience — members of the International Association of Fire Fighters from across the United States and Canada — laughed.

Laugh if you want, but Bill Clinton understands such things as few men do. Like him or not, Clinton was one of those guys who people found themselves liking — whether they liked him or not. I found myself hating him after I voted for him, and yet he was the kind of guy I always would have enjoyed meeting and having a beer with.

Damn those good looking rascals!

Whether this is about politics is another matter. I like to think that I am not influenced by whether someone is a good looking rascal or not.

(Not that what I am influenced by would matter to a rascal, but whatever.)
