Another day, another irritating statistic

I had no idea that the number of babies receiving WIC food supplements was this high.

a shocking 49 percent of all babies born in the U.S. are born to families receiving food supplements from the WIC program, according to Jean Daniel, spokesperson for the USDA.

Doesn’t that mean half of all births are essentially government subsidized?

Conservatives often carry on about how the government should not subsidize abortion, and I agree. But does that mean the government should subsidize childbirth?

At the rate things are going, we’ll have a government-subsidized majority, voting in favor of their own subsidization.

And what happens when the productive people who have to pay for it go on strike? Will the majority vote for new laws to make them work?

The cost of wic isn’t that high, and the first child born, or cared for is a new experience. WIC serves a purpose of introducing new parents to the basics of what it takes to take care of a new child.

Definitely not necessary, at least when we lived in a society that promoted family, as in ties as well as production, but WIC can be helpful just as an educational aid.

Sorta like public school for new parents on how to not kill their babies.

On the one hand I want to be an entrepreneur that figures out how to capitalize on our changing demographics. On the other hand I’m afraid of succeeding and being targeted for my success. The medium-term future of the United States is going to very interesting as we become older, fatter, and less educated.
