Your tax dollars at “work”

Back in November, I lamented that this sort of thing would be happening more and more:

Federal agents also allege that Transportation Safety Administration Officer Thomas Gordon Jr. of Philadelphia, who routinely searched airline passengers, uploaded explicit pictures of young girls to an Internet site on which he also posted a photograph of himself in his TSA uniform.

Homeland Security agents arrested the TSA officer March 24, and he is being held without bail.

Although the case was unsealed Thursday, neither the indictment nor the news release mentioned Gordon’s job searching airline passengers for TSA.

Typical. When you offer to pay people to do what they most want to do, they will line up to take the jobs. If the government offered to hire people to put Jews in ovens, rest assured that there would be applicants.

Well, ya know – that doesn’t just apply in TSA – should we apply that kind of thinking to, for teachers of children?
(And yes, they are checked for prior violations – but that doesn’t mean much if they haven’t been caught yet.) And I’m sure you can google a number of cases.
Yeah – that one is nasty. But it was ONE employee.
There are PLENTY of arguments (like the too-often ignored Fourth Amendment) to use against the TSA. The argument: “but they are probably all pervs” isn’t one of them. My guess is that the vast majority of TSA applicants want the job not because it’s what they most (or even slightly) want to do, but because it is a government job with nice benefits that will put food on the table. I actually considered it myself years ago when they started it. (I was VERY hungry at the time.)
That said, if we find out TSA does NOT require criminal checks before hiring, I suggest we go ballistic.

I wonder how many pedophiles are getting away with feeling up small kids just because they work for the TSA.

Teachers get in trouble for feeling up their students.
