Bigoted, bombastic, and brutal buffoonery

I love buffoonery, and former ACORN boss Bertha “bowel movement” Lewis wins the prize for the most bombastic hyperbolic buffoonery imaginable:

Any of these groups that says, “I’m young, I’m Democratic, and I’m a socialist,” is okay with me. You know that’s no light thing to do — to actually say, I’m a socialist. You’ve got to know, actually, we are living in a time that’s going to dwarf the McCarthy era. It is going to dwarf the internment of World War II. We are right now in a time that is going to dwarf the era of Jim Crow and segregation.
They are coming. And they are coming after you. And they are going to be brutal and oppressive. They’ve already shown it. … This is not rhetoric or hyperbole — this is real. … This tea party so-called movement — a bowel-movement in my estimation — and this blatant uncovering and ripping off the mask of racism…

While the remarks are funny, this is also a classic example of what Andrew Breitbart warned of in New Orleans at the SRLC:

the greatest thing that the left does, and it uses the the media to do it, is that it accuses you of what they’re doing to you.

It’s tough to imagine any better proof of that than what happened in New Orleans to Allee Bautsch and Joseph Brownright after the event that Andrew Breitbart addressed.
Here’s a picture of the couple after the attack in which Bautsch’s leg was broken, and Brown’s jaw was broken.

And the caption, courtesy of bombastic Bertha:

They are coming. And they are coming after you. And they are going to be brutal and oppressive. They’ve already shown it. … This is not rhetoric or hyperbole — this is real.

So accurate it’s almost funny.

Precisely why they accuse the Tea Parties of being violent!
Elementary my dear Alinsky.

    “So accurate it’s almost funny.”
    Neither accurate, nor funny enough.
    No worries though!
Most of us prefer the “repeat” button.

To an extent, Eric, I think she’s “sensing” the mood in the country and attributing it wrong.
I could be wrong — G-d almighty, I hope I AM wrong — but I’ve had the feeling for a while now we’re all dancing on a powder keg.
Of course what Big Bertha says is only adding powder, as are their despicable actions. I’m afraid the pushback WON’T happen (pushback is needed at this point) but I’m even more afraid of the flip and the rebound, which could go way too far in the other direction and which would make the likes of you and I associate with people like — ew — Bertha, to push back the push back. Now, mind you, most people like us — and most tea partiers — are decent sorts, but decent sorts if they get mad enough are still human. (Look at Sean Kinsell’s post, where people were reacting not to him but to what people he has nothing to do with have said — and filmed, in things like Redacted.) And I don’t WANT to have to stand with the whiney left, truly.
Oh, great. Not only am I conflicted and afraid of future reactions from both sides. I’m also incoherent. Shutting up now.

I hope we’re not dancing on a powder keg, but the complete disconnect between the two sides worries me and reminds me of the period before the Spanish Civil War.

Big Bertha may reply this is a case of “See what you made me do:” the wingnuts PROVOKED the lefties.
Isn’t “see what you made me do” the marching tune of serial abusers?
