Evidently Mr. Obama can’t get gun regulation/confiscation through the Congress in the normal manner so he is trying an end run by getting the Senate to pass a treaty.

Technical Assistance and Training. Parties agree to cooperate to better ensure adequate training in such areas as identification and tracing; intelligence gathering; and detection methods and search protocols at borders.
So we are going to have Secret Police going after gun owners in America? How well has that worked out for drug users? Have they curtailed drug use much?
And what is Mr. Obama’s rationalization for this effort? To keep criminals from getting guns for use in the Drug War. That should be about as effective as keeping the criminals from getting drugs. Like all failed socialist policies new laws are required to make up for the failures of the previous set of policies. The Drug War begets a War On Guns. I have been beating this drum for years, warning gun rights folks that the Drug War was going to be used against them. It is unfortunate that the vast majority of Gun Rights folks haven’t been paying attention.

This has been a concern, not only on the 2nd Amendment but on other things: that since he wouldn’t be able to get enough people in Congress to commit political suicide to give him what he wants, that he’d try end runs like this.
And, sure enough, he’s trying it. Time to write the Senate critters, folks.
What alarms me the most is this:

Very broad, far-reaching language. “Transit” could easily interpreted as requiring a federal license to move a single gun or bullet anywhere within the U.S.
And what are “other related materials”?
Well, let’s see… if you handload ammo, ‘related materials’ would be powder, primers, bullets and cartridge cases. Which would mean some kind of European-style “We can come in and ‘inspect’ how much you have and how you store it at any time” rule, possibly along with having to have the proper permissions to, as you say, transport them from the shop to your home.
And books! Let’s not forget books: books on handloading, anything else related to ammo or firearms; got to have proper control of those, you know, it’s all for the Public Good.
Wow, another attempt by the left to ban guns. color me surprise.
Well, boys and girls, I guess they want to do to guns what they did to drugs. Instead of making it disappear, you will be able to get a hold of one from a friend of a friend, cheap with plenty of ammo to go with it.
