White Males Need Not Apply

Evidently there are going to be racial quotas for construction workers. Or As Mr. Reich might put it somewhat more artfully: “Some of my best friends are white people, but we should do our best to see that their job opportunities are limited.”
I’m starting to get Rev. Lowery’s Inauguration benediction.

Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, and when white will embrace what is right.

White people are now going to be working for people of color. Nothing wrong with that. If it is voluntary.
I thought Obama and his administration were supposed to be post racialist. You know what Martin Luther King Jr. said.

I look forward confidently to the day when all who work for a living will be one with no thought to their separateness as Negroes, Jews, Italians or any other distinctions.

I guess the government has a plan to separate us according to skin color. Reverse Jim Crow.
You know, I’m thinking more and more that Mr. Obama has a great future. As an ex-President. I didn’t march, and demonstrate, and petition in the 60s for this crap.

Sorry about not condensing my comments.
I would give the Rev. Lowry a pass on “white will embrace what is right”, as he was simply engaging in word play on an old saying:
    If you’re white, you’re alright
If you’re brown, then hang around
If you’re black, then stay back.

So the Rev Lowry was simply saying that times have changed.
I would NOT give the Reverend a pass for his classless attack on Dubya when Dubya was in the audience for an MLK Day ceremony.

I would give Rev Lowery a pass too had he prefaced his remarks with something like the “the old stereotypes are passing”.
And he left out one very important bigotry in the black community “If you are a Jew we don’t like you.”

Oh come on now! This man was simply acting his age.
Reverend Lowery isn’t the problem. Far from it.
Your grandmother or great grandmother, regardless of color, would have nodded in some sort of understanding had they been at the inauguration. It would have been a shared understanding about how things were back then, and also an understanding of just how far we have come. All in all, smile worthy, “happy to be here today” worthy.
If you want to get pissed off? Check out what that ass Robert Reich suggested. This toad has been around the bend often enough to know suggesting government financed work projects should primarily go to blacks will set back reasonable resolutions about three or four decades should anyone take his prior govt position in the Clinton administration seriously.

    Penny,
If he is too old to make that explicit he is too old to be speaking. If he wants to live in the past that is his business. If he wants to give a speech about the past that is the Presidents business. Or does the buck stop over there? And then how do you explain Mr. Reich? Well you don’t.
Excuse me if I see a theme here. Did I mention Rev. Wright? Rev. Meeks? I should have.

My mother is 90 years old,and born in Atlanta. She was appalled.
The Rev. Lowery’s racism is the same as Reichs.
