Watching the sunset from this house is always a treat, and much better than television. Today was especially spectacular, because, while it was overcast all day, the sun broke through at the last minute in a most peculiar, other-worldly manner. Here’s a view from inside the house.
To give an idea of how the window glass filters out the color when the camera is used, here’s a view from outside the window, as the sun got lower.
And speaking of heavenly images, here’s something else I found:
Yeah, I know, modern art sucks and all that. But I can’t bear to throw it away.
(Hmmm.. Maybe now that it’s online, it doesn’t matter what happens to the original.)
MORE: By way of comparison, here’s Salvador Dalí’s “News of the
Lower Depths of Hell” from the Divine Comedy series.
Why the elephant-like figure is eating the woman on the right, I don’t know.

OK, I’ll say it – what is that thing?
It’s on the ceiling that I have to tear out, and I keep staring at it because I really like it.
Talk about leading answers. Why are you tearing out the ceiling?
A badly water-stained ceiling. I figured it was something like that, it looked natural (I was thinking about satellite images of a desert, or possibly swirling mud when I saw it). Modern “art” is completely unnatural – which is why it’s ugly.
Yes, it’s badly stained, but now I’m thinking maybe I shouldn’t tear it out, but leave it there for the art critics! Or perhaps I could frame it, and donate it to an art museum for a huge tax deduction!
Knowing now what it is I feel like a real dope. But then again it is believable as contemporary “art”.
Leave it there and frame it in place. That way you get modern art out of something natural!
Wonderful sunset! But maybe you should clean your windows;)
