At least conservatives still smoke red meat

We all know that smoking is conservative, because Republicans tend to defend tobacco, while Democrats tend to attack it.
With that principle in mind, I decided to look back in time at cigarette ads.
Sure enough, I spotted what can only be called “cultural conservatism” in this ad:

And there’s no denying that genuine Paleo Conservatism is at play in this one:

Finally in the 1960s, LSD was added, and people started coming out of the TV!

But it was still a form of conservatism that had not yet been snuffed out.
(I hope there’s no serious message here. I’d hate to think that conservatism might be as endangered as smoking. But nothing ever seems to remain the same. And therein lies the paradox.)

I’m one of those awful smokers but Salem’s “fresh air with every puff” cracked me up!
Was that Elizabeth Montgomery in the Newport ad? Sure reminded me of her.

Smoking is hardly endangered–it is merely persecuted. Even should it be prohibited, we know how badly such policies work, as they contradict both the principles of individual liberty and limited government.
I dispute the notion that smoking is conservative, seeing as both religious conservatives and secular liberals gleefully combine forces to put government force behind their uncompromising intolerance, never conceding that they have harassed and punished their victims enough. On the contrary, people of all origins and class smoke,
    It’s an equal opportunity bigotry.
Further, no one recognizes the terrible precedents set by this crusade, from an unconstitutional collusion of states to the demonstration that no custom, no matter how popular or ancient, will be free from meddling or suppression by the parasitic governing classes.
The history of this proud crusade is a national disgrace.
