Steady flow of nightlife

It’s not every day you see a fire hydrant like this:

But there it was, staring at me in Ann Arbor on Friday night.
Right now I’m in Rockford, Illinois (only overnight), soon to be on the road to Madison, Wisconsin.
A picture from last night with M. Simon, taken in front of a the Big CIties Lounge right after we’d seen the great Reverend Raven:

I’d be exaggerating if I said we were teetotalers.
(Not exactly like a fire hydrant, but the beer was flowing nonetheless!)
A great time.

    Yes it was great!
Some of the best Blues I’ve heard in ages. And the harp (harmonica player) was the best I think I have ever heard.
    Madison Slim.
The first set was very New Orleans with a touch of Les Paul.
The second set was more varied with some surf music riffs and rock ‘n roll thrown in.
Harmonica Joe – mentioned in a travel log from Eric’s last visit to Rockford – was there with us and he gave Slim the very highest of praise. He said that although he was invited to riff with the band he was so overwhelmed by Slim’s harping that he felt totally outclassed. And Joe is a very good harpist. He did do a couple of short riffs on the street as we were leaving and he really sounded inspired by Slim’s work.
A very good time was had by all.

I don’t remember that fire plug, but it’s been several years since I lived in A2. I’d guess that it’s somewhere between central campus and Division Street, though. Am I close?

Yes it was a great time!
Ian, the area was called Kerrytown.

A ha! I was a little off on the geography, but yeah, Kerrytown would have something like that in it. 🙂
