“…I don’t want to see the Clintons returned to the White House.”
Nor do I.
Thompson, no matter what his opinions are, comes across as a tired, sick, old man.
He will NEVER defeat Hillary.
Reminds me of the last wheel chair bound days of FDR – at Yalta.
Is this the best that Bush Sr. can come up with?
Pathetic.
Yeah, Frank… let’s ignore where everyone stands on the issues and treat the election with all the seriousness of an O’Reilly Factor body language segment. I’m sure we won’t regret the outcome one bit.
You want seriousness? OK:
Fred Thompson’s good points are his obvious intelligence, his senate experience, and his stated views on current issues. That he’s an actor might help – it didn’t hurt Reagan.
Now his negatives:
He gave up his senate seat to return to acting. Doesn’t this show a lack of interest by him in national politics? His return to the political arena was at the behest of Bush Sr.’s buddies. It wasn’t his idea and it shows in his dreary campaigning style.
He has lymphoma. From my personal experience with the disease (my mother died from it) it can go into remission only to flair up again terminally. The stress of being President is not a prescription to help someone suffering with lymphatic cancer. And despite what he says, his appearance is that of a sick person. I believe he simply will not be up the task of a rigorous campaign, let alone the presidency.
Should he get the Republican nomination, I would vote for him over any of the Democrats now running. But I don’t think he has a chance against Hillary.
