Intelligent design?

Via Drudge, I see that it’s almost a fact.
Or would it be creation?
Perhaps creationists and evolutionists can all compromise now, and get along….

One response to “Intelligent design?”

In the 1950’s there was talk of toasters powered by their own little nuclear reactor and electrical power generated so cheaply there would be no reason to bother metering it. We’re a lot closer to those things becoming a reality (that is to say, not close at all) than to making anything from scratch that could be reasonably be called life. The idea that we understand enough about cellular physiology to do anything more than cut from one life form, paste into another, and pray it works despite us is laughable.
If amino acids (let alone protiens or complex structures like mitochondria or ribosomes) were so easy to assemble we’d be making food out of dirt rather than waiting for corn to grow. It’s all simple in theory, as long as you ignore how complicated it is in reality. If there is one thing our advances in molecular biology has taught us, it is how little we really understand how something as simple as a single cell works.
Someday, maybe, but, as with the nuclear powered toaster, that day is still a good long ways off.
