Thank You Friend
Our favorite commenter here at CV (well Eric's and mine, I haven't checked with Dave) has a very nice one in response to "for the good for society"? Or for the good of the state? In America we think that improving our society does improve our country. But there's a hidden assumption that many other countries' populations don't make.Pretty good stuff. Except for the bit about attention span. I have kept my mind on the Drug War for 40 years and the end is now in sight. It can be done. But it requires that a few people dedicate themselves to it totally. Just like the Drug War. And we have better tools. When I started promoting Polywell Fusion in November of 2006 (thanks Eric) very few had heard of it and the DOD had cut off funding. By August of 2007 due to constant efforts on the 'net by myself and a few others the project was refunded. Early results are not definitive (it will work, it won't work) but so far promising. Well any way. Now a days when a blog post or article comes up on fusion Polywell is almost always mentioned in the comments. My point is that a very few DEDICATED people can change the culture in significant ways in short order. If you are honest (Polywell might not work - but it is definitely worth a try) and tireless. And I'm here to help. Have an idea on how to change the country for the better that can start small and grow? That does not require a government program and in fact rejects any government help. Let me promote it. You want to start a commune? Let me help. You want to set up a tax free village? Let me help. Any thing voluntary. Let the results speak for themselves. (I always like to bring up these anti-abortion folks in my town Rockford Pro Life in that regard). Comments are open. And my point? Stop being lazy and waiting for government to do it. We have the best tools ever invented for the job. Stop bitching or moaning "there ought to be a law" and get to work. One person can make a difference. And if we do enough stuff on our own we can retire government to what it ought to be. Minor functionaries in a free country. Some tips on how to get started on your crusade. 1. Set up a Google alert on blogs and a phrase that will pull up posts on your topic of interest The rest of what you need to know you can learn by doing. Stuff like simple HTML. Veeshir, Let me change the subject a little. You will note that in the roughly 24 hours this has been up not a single one of our social conservative friends has given me one single voluntary social program they want me promote. And this is not the first post in which I have made the offer. M. Simon · October 7, 2010 08:38 PM I have to admit, I'm only worried when they try to use the gov't. Maybe they don't think you're a good choice as someone to push their agenda. They wouldn't pick me either I figure. Veeshir · October 8, 2010 10:09 AM From a marketing standpoint if you are looking for new territory get some one in that territory to promote your product. Some one who knows the locals. And how the product needs to be designed and marketed to attract the locals. My guess? They have nothing. They can't imagine doing social change without government guns. The very thing they don't like about the left. I'm a Leninist on this matter: "Multiply the contradictions". M. Simon · October 8, 2010 10:39 AM Post a comment

The way I see it, we have to vote and keep voting.
If we had 100% turnover of everybody in office everywhere in the country, that would be a start.
That's not happening, that's why I think it's going to take decades. We would have to just keep voting out the statists as they turn statist. And they always do.
We also have to see Minitru go out of business.
Once a few stalwarts go bankrupt, like the NY Times or CNN or the Wash Post, (not MSNBC, everybody knows they're fringe), maybe the evil corporate owners will realize that allowing their employees to put ideology before profits isn't such a good idea. I'd really like to see "journalists" realize that they're using and abusing their rights and find a sense of honor, but I'm not holding my breath on that.
And the worst scourge of democracy that only I seem to think is that bad is gerrymandering.
When a "representative" can be re-elected for decades without running because it's a "safe seat" is the antithesis of democracy.
Districts should be drawn geographically without any regard for any demographics except total population, and most emphatically not the make-up of that population.
I'm sort of torn, I can see the side of people who want term limits because people are too stupid to decide who to vote for (that's what it boils down to no matter how you pretty it up), but I'm a big fan of freedom and I don't want anybody being my mother, not even my mother since I turned 18.
So I'm against term limits.
If you've read "If this goes on...." renamed "Revolt in 2100", at one point the rebels are showing a video a "psychometrician" came up with to subliminally convince people to hate the Prophet and love the new order.
One guy freaks out and says that you can't make people free and you can't be their mothers so even if the rebellion loses, he's against it.
I totally understood that and agree with it. Just because the nanny agrees with me doesn't mean I want a nannarchy.
