Munich II?

Obama's unilateral capitulation on missile defense is being met with alarm in countries that remember the Iron Curtain.

One is reminded of when Jimmy Carter cancelled the B-2 bomber, and sent his ambassador to ask the Russians what they would do in exchange. The Russian ambassador chortled and told our envoy "Sir, I am neither an altruist nor a pacifist."

The Czechs, of course, are worried that they have been down this road before.

If the purpose is to look and act weak and ineffective it is
certainly working.

Yeah. Munich II. Go back farther(skew it geographically) and it's the beginning of War I. Any time someone gives in for peace, regardless of price, the lust for power and influence begins anew. Peace through vigilance.

I think we missed WWI redux in the 90s with Kosovo. It came close, I know Clark tried his best.

I'm thinking WWII too.
After Germany invaded Poland, during the Phony War, the Belgians wouldn't let the Brits and French station troops there because it would be "provocative".

Now we have missile defense that's "provocative" to Tsar Putin I.

The only way a defensive measure is "provocative" is when a dictator wants to invade.
