Red Spilling Over Green
Rumor has it that the IRGC will be called into to crush the Iranian protests sooner rather than later. While many see hope for revolutionary change, I'm skeptical any internal movement will displace the mullahs. It's easy to forget the Soviet Union fell only because their leadership lacked the will to send in the tanks as they had in the past, possibly due in part to a decade of being harangued as an "evil empire" by Ronald Reagan. The mullahs, by all indications, have no such moral qualms and today's President seems to think all this is just "robust debate." The only real hope for the protesters is that the IRGC itself will refuse such orders.
Unsurprisingly, Sully agrees. posted by Dave on 06.19.09 at 03:01 PM

So in Obama's world, skull-busting on the streets of Teheran is 'robust debate', but folks back here at home sporting libertarian, pro-life or 'anti-government' bumper stickers need to have an eye kept on them by law enforcement authorities. Dissent = patriotism, eh?. And this canard about the mullahs blaming the U.S. if it speak up for protesters is nonsense. Iran has blamed everything but sun spots on the Great Satan for 30 years and has already blamed us for what's going on now. Vinny Vidivici · June 20, 2009 08:54 AM Obama clearly favors the devil he knows. Because the agent of Change! can only work from one script at a time. Peg C. · June 20, 2009 11:09 AM Well, Klein is a demonstrated idiot, at best, and Excitable Andy quite probably is suffering from dementia. JorgXMcKie · June 20, 2009 12:13 PM Those "brainwashed morons" sound like they get all their news from Huffpost and DailyKos then. Tollhouse · June 20, 2009 01:43 PM If they're reading the HuffPost about Iran, they're doing well. The Huffington Post is awash in idiotic nonsense on so many things - just see the preposterous medical quackery, for example - but Nico Pitney's "Liveblogging the Uprising" is damned good. kenb · June 20, 2009 04:11 PM Post a comment
