Stop making women look bad!

Rochelle Riley of the Detroit Free Press does not like Sarah Palin very much. She not only disagrees with her, but she thinks she is stupid, and above all is making women look bad:

As our economy teeters on the brink of disaster, Gov. Sarah Palin has spent the past two days cramming for a debate she cannot win and complaining that divulging her position on Pakistan, which mirrors Sen. Barack Obama's -- and is in direct conflict with that of her running mate, Sen. John McCain -- was in response to a "gotcha" question from a voter.

She was asked a question Saturday about sending troops into Pakistan. Instead of following the strategy that McCain explained during Friday's debate about not expressing such sentiments aloud, she said: "If that's what we have to do to stop the terrorists from coming any further in, absolutely, we should."

Her subsequent reaction makes four things clear:

1) She doesn't understand politics.

2) She doesn't understand her running mate (or didn't watch the debate).

3) That voter, the one who asked the question, DID get her.

4) She should drop out of the race (no explanation would be needed) and stop making women look bad.

Fascinating. By saying something which the pro-Obama columnist interprets as agreement with Barack Obama, and apparently, by not following McCain to the letter as she's supposed to, she's a political ignoramus who makes women look bad?

Attention GOP women: if you disobey or fail to understand McCain and if you appear to agree with Obama on anything, you make women look bad!

Palin is setting the gender back by decades.
I'm not sure I follow the logic, but hey, OK....

I'm wondering about something, though. Is there anything Joe Biden could do to make men look bad?

How about if we use the same logic. If he appears to utter a slight policy difference from Obama, and it happens to be similar to something John McCain said, would columnists be saying Biden was setting his gender back by decades? Surely they wouldn't say he makes his race look bad, would they? (Hey I don't know; I'm only trying to make sense of the column.)

Conclusion? America is hated all over the world and in financial trouble, so Palin should go home.

This isn't a beauty pageant, or a mayoral run, or even a gubernatorial campaign among the moose.

This election comes at a time when our country is globally hated and financially imploding. What person in their right mind still thinks that this is politics as usual?

Sarah Palin, go home.

What person in their right mind still thinks that this is politics as usual?

After eight years of Bushitler Cheney Halliburton Rechimplican bashing, the Palin smears are supposed to seem unusual?

The only thing I can see that's different is that they've changed the target.

Can you imagine the uproar if a Republican said Obama was making blacks look bad?

You'd never hear the end of it.

Palin is setting the gender back by decades.

I gotta agree on that one. All the so-called "feminists" who claimed she couldn't perform the job of VP because she has kids, the ones like Naomi Wolf who attack her at every step and the entire NYTimesWashPostCNNABCCBSNBCetc. who are attacking incessantly are ensuring that any women who aren't leftists will take a pass on public life.
Yup, she's setting the gender back almost as far as when "feminists" were calling for their presidential knee-pads sothey could "service" Clinton while ignoring his sexual predation.

Their objection to her is tribal, primitive, and visceral. It is rationalized, but not rational. The inability to stand back from one's own statements and see how they would sound if the situation were reversed is the consistent mark of people who are responding to emotional, rather than logical cues.

Palin is a bee from the wrong hive. That is all.

It is rather a shame for feminists, because I think there are Palin qualities and attributes she could legitimately be criticised on, and they sometimes veer near them. The leftist rationalizing intellect often remains intact enough that it can dimly perceive ideas, even as it succumbs to rage.

The image runs through my mind of a maddened animal, attempting to sneak up on its prey but becoming uncontrollable when it actually comes in view.

Odd that they don't notice Nancy Pelosi or Jamie Gorelick failing spectacularly over and over. Although personally, I think it's a great advance in "equality" that incompetent women can now rise to the same heights in our government as incompetent men. :P

Is it me, or does she sound a bit screechy?

Oh, just joking for heaven's sake! Now if only Rochelle Riley was joking and said so.

Eric, you missed some tasty tidbits in this commentary, and I quote the author here, "Palin should consider history. Women have worked hard to get ahead in America -- in industry and politics. Women have made great strides that include Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign. Clinton didn't win, but she showed what was possible with the right candidate."

History...hard working women...the right candidate, just not a RIGHT leaning FEMALE candidate, and OMG not NOW! It isn't fair to Hillary, is it, Rochelle?

Let me suggest that instead of demanding that Sarah Palin step out of this race, that you question Barrack Obama why Hillary Clinton isn't still IN this race? According to the democrats, and the feminists among them, this is the man who will not only lead our country...but will CHANGE THE WORLD!

It seems to me that a man with such lofty goals could surely figure out a way to get along with a stronger, female vice presidential candidate, and EVEN her ornery, ex-president husband.

So Rochelle? If you are coming at this along party lines or more specifically, feminist party lines? Fix your OWN house before you go crapping in ours.

This touches upon so many leftist triggers it's pathological. The real reason Palin is unacceptable to gatekeepers like Riley is that "R" after her name. In fact, that's the only reason. Everything else is either self serving rationalization or pants wetting hysteria.

Hillary, who is out of the race, is an icon, but Palin, who is actually on the ticket for Nov 4, is anathema. Somebody get that uppity bitch back onto the reservation before more like her think they can do a man's job!

Sorry, I meant a leftist woman's job!
