I Just Don't Get It
The Jews have the right idea. Never forget what happened in Germany. Never hold present day Germans (other than the haters) responsible for the sins of their ancestors. That is what is so toxic about Wright. Did he thank the dead of Gettysburg for their sacrifice on his behalf? Did he thank the Jews for their unwavering anti-racism? For their early support of the NAACP? I drank out of a Colored Only water fountain when I was five (I knew what it meant and it offended me). My best friend in high school (drinking buddy) was black. I could go on. I can honestly say I don't have a racist bone in my body. So why am I being held responsible for the racists in America? Most of whom are by now gone or out of power any way. BTW I'm a member of the original anti-slavery party. The party that first stood against slavery. A Republican. Why is that a dirty word in most of the black community? After the Civil War most blacks were Republicans. Why can't Wright remember that? There is so much else he has no trouble remembering. How about the original KKK Party - the Democrats. How about the original surrender to the slave states party? The Democrats? Does the Rev Wright want to build bridges and make alliances or just spew? What ever fills the collection plate, eh? Obama will never, never, ever get my vote. The Jews are deserting the Dems en mass over Obama/Wright. I just don't get it. Probably because I'm too white and too Jewish. Let me remind you also of the "Battle Hymn of The Republic". Just in case you think anti-slavery did not motivate the Northern troops. Do you think they might sing that at Wright's church? It is the closing song at Republican Party conventions. And yet we are being accused of being the racist party. I don't get it. Obama/Wright has done a better job of denying the black community allies than David Duke could ever have done. Is a simple "Thank you for your sacrifice" too much to ask? Jews are eternally grateful for what America did in WW2 (even though it could have possibly done more). Where is the love that Jesus preached - at least love for black allies, let alone enemies? I just don't get it. Prompted by A Dream Defeated. Cross Posted at Power and Control posted by Simon on 03.25.08 at 11:22 PM

alphie, What is it about Eternally Grateful you do not understand? Alphie do you try to be stupid or does it just come naturally? And let me ask further are you a supporter of Black Liberation Theology? Is that something you can get behind? M. Simon · March 26, 2008 06:36 AM You might also wish to read the comments here. M. Simon · March 26, 2008 06:38 AM M. Simon - The acheivements of the Red Ball Expressare legendary in the history of logistics - and most of the drivers were African-American. But I suspect you already knew that. All they were looking for was a chance to prove what they could do, like the Tuskeegee Airmen. They weren't demanding to be pushed to the head of the line - they simply wanted a chance. This 'liberation theology' crap seems to insist they get to the front of the line, and be entitled to block all other access. I fully agree - if you're looking for someone to 'keep the blacks in their place', you won't find anyone better at it than the race-baiting poverty pimps like Wright, who makes sure the people he preaches at are so fixated on being victims that they refuse to lift themselves up. It's SO much easier to wallow in an entitlement mentality and blame everyone else for your lack of success, and then be pissed when someone tries to actually get you out of it! JLawson · March 26, 2008 07:30 AM JLawson, Thanks for that. d'accord. And yes I am quite familiar with the Red Ball Express. Thanks for the link. And the Tuskegee Airmen of the 332nd Fighter Group. I believe they had the best record of guarding the bombers of any WW2 fighter group. In the beginning there was a lot of resistance from the initial bomber groups due to racial stereotypes. After the bomber groups had experience with the 332 they were asked for when there was a choice. Here is the Wiki Tuskegee Airmen. Outstanding performance has always been the key to inclusion in America. Here is the www site for Tuskegee Airmen. M. Simon · March 26, 2008 08:11 AM The term "honest discussion of race" is rhetorical code language thrown around by people who do not want honest discussions of race because of political realities. If you consider that Obama launched his political career by passing as "culturally black" (when he was really "culturally white"), then it behooves him to obfuscate in this manner, because he is playing a game. A necessary game for him, as he is being what he is: a politician and a chameleon. Honest discussions and political games for chameleons are two very different -- and probably incompatible -- issues. Bearing in mind that his stance is inherently contrived and political, I still think he comes across as a nice guy. I wish more politicians had his good manners. However, his pleasant demeanor does not incline me to vote for him, because he's hopelessly wedded to socialism, gun control, and the rest of it. Eric Scheie · March 26, 2008 09:26 AM Amen. Alphie, try to stay with the argument as written, not interesting facts tangentially related to the topic. Assistant Village Idiot · March 26, 2008 10:41 AM To hold white Americans eternally hostage to the memory of slavery when vanishingly few of us have ever met anyone who was even alive during that era, much less had any control over it, makes the Great Greenwald Instalink Dustup into a smoking gun by comparison. We already apologized. We had a whole war over it. Deal, already. Socrates · March 26, 2008 11:13 AM M. Simon assumes he and his mom = "en mass," AVI. Do you really want to stay on that topic? A textbook case of confirmation bias. alphie · March 26, 2008 11:14 AM Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over Łall the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Why is there no mention of man's skin color here? Ronald · March 26, 2008 11:50 AM The topic was Americans in general and Republicans in specific being accused of racism. But I now begin to understand, alphie. You just like word games, not any discussion with a hope of arriving at a truth. Now I know not to bother. Assistant Village Idiot · March 27, 2008 04:00 PM AVI, alphie is our resident troll. We like feeding him from time to time so he keeps coming around. It is the amusement value. Not to be taken seriously. BTW alphie. Jews normally vote 75% Democrat. If you look up on line the breakdown is now about 50/50 with movement continuing. In '04 if a liberal Jew was going to defect s/he had to keep silent to maintain relations. That is not true this year. This year it just gets a nod at worst, sometimes even encouragement. It is a sea change. Let me add that alphie claims to be Republican oriented but I see very little evidence of that. I'd put him in the class of left of center Democrat with a moderate understanding of economics. An anti-war Joe Lieberman. BTW alphie wait till you see my next post. I'm hoping to make you really scream. I look forward to your "comments". M. Simon · March 27, 2008 06:19 PM Post a comment
