Friday fun

This is one of the most unbelievable videos I have seen to date.

Unfortunately, I can't read, write, or speak Japanese (at least I think it's a Japanese show), so I have no idea what they are talking about.

It pretty much speaks for itself. A chimpanzee and a bulldog do a fairly complex (for animals, at least) exercise routine. Be patient; the real action doesn't start until 17 seconds into the video.

If the player doesn't work in your browser, the link is here

Can anyone tell me what this is and whether it's real?

(Whatever it is, I'm hoping the bulldog's name is "Halliburton.")

MORE: Oh, I almost forgot to give the title (which probably won't display):

阿苯與阿占新片

Hope that makes everything clear.

GRRRR: The title came through as nonsense characters, so here's a screenshot:

halliburton.JPG

I'm sure everything is clear now.

AFTERTHOUGHT: Considering my last post, I hope the animal rights activists approve of this.

Well, I think I can truthfully state that no animals were harmed in any way in the making of this blog post!

The show is definitely Japanese, but the title to the YouTube clip, and the person who submitted it to YouTube is Chinese.

The word on the chimp's shirt is "Pan", which is a reference to Pan Troglodyte no doubt.

As far as the rest, I think the captions at the end are the chimp declaring his displeasure at the bulldog's laziness (but I could be wrong, my Japanese isn't as good as it should be).

Also, when animals are trained to do things normally reserved for humans, that stuff is funny in any language.

After paying closer attention to the title up top, I realized that it says "Pan & James", so the bulldog is James.

Searching for "panandjames" reveals many videos posted from Thailand, and are collected at this blog (the originals are definitely Japanese, but most of these videos are dubbed into Thai).

Their official site is here:

Not much to say -- they're trained animals.
