Enabling scientific rule?

In a shocker of a post at Pajamas Media Fausta has the details of how Venezuela, a once democratic country, has now officially become a Communist dictatorship. Freedom is gone.

Tal Cual calls the new [Enabling] law, "giving Chávez all, absolutely all, special powers".

In plain words, Hugo Chávez is now officially a dictator.

Read the whole thing -- and weep.

One of the details that caught my eye was reported in Tuesday's Business News America:

that the Assembly had granted Chávez 'special powers related to the regulation of hydrocarbons and their derivates...
Fortunately, we have a Constitution to prevent any such special powers to regulate hydrocarbons from being created here.

I mean, it's not as if there's a "Dormant Climate Clause" or anything, so reports like this need not concern those who think constitutional freedom is more important than having the government enforce the latest scientific theories.

But Marx was once said to be scientific, and I imagine Hugo (along with the usual power-seeking sycophants) will proclaim he's acting in the interests of science.

Marx was scientific.

He said that if a country needed to accumulate capital, capitalism was the way to go.

The man was a genius.

Wasn't that 70 years to the day when Hitler was voted his powers? What a way to celebrate!

Having had to grow up in a socialist family, I have heard it all... by the age of 15. And having that experience I found, for myself, what was wrong with it both from the societal and implementation views. I believe I have made a couple of budding socialists a bit despondant when I hit upon the idea that good socialists recognize that it is an end-state system and that for it to come about Capitalism must be fully at an end. Got that from my upbringing when it was pointed out that whenever a problem hit at a business, it was the socialists that were the first back at work to ensure that Capitalism *did* reach that end state.... well at least the scientific socialists did... can't speak for the rest.

Say, is Hugo one of those international socialist types or one of those national socialist types? Or just a thug with socialist trappings? My guess is the latter...
