Horn and hide
I almost missed this week's RINO Sightings Carnival, hosted by Nicholas Schweitzer at The World According to Nick. This is rapidly becoming my favorite carnival, because RINOs pull no punches (probably because they're best known for refusing to follow party lines.) A few examples: when it comes to shoehorning science and medicine in order to fit an ideological agenda, misrepresenting risk and utilizing hyperbole, you're doing the public debate a serious disservice, doing your readers a disservice and emulating the worst flaws of the mainstream media: combining a distorted ideological narrative with superficial analysis of complex issues. The post generated a huge debate; be sure to check the comments. All the rest are good too; so do yourself a favor and go read them. Long may the RINOS rage! posted by Eric on 08.24.05 at 12:43 PM

"Dean Esmay (who has an amazing knack for melding passion with compelling reason),"
Like G. K. Chesterton and Ayn Rand. That is precisely why I read him. His style. Even when I most strongly disagree with him....
"takes on the foolish notion that all of Islam is at war with America, and that America is (or should be) at war with all Muslims. It's Dean at his best, and a must-read!"
....And that's one of the areas where I'm afraid I find myself increasingly in disagreement with him. He, like so many others who had heretofore been strong warbloggers, is now succumbing to this whole Politically Correct "Islam is The Religion of Peace" nonsense. The truth is that Islam has been at war against the West since at least 732 A.D. when Charles Martel fought the battle of Tours, or 622 A.D. when Muhammad first established his Akhenaton-like monotheist tyranny in Medina and then in Mecca.
This "Some of my best friends are Muslims (or some Muslims I know say they are my friends), therefore all Muslims are our warm, fuzzy friends, so let's call this whole War off" is doing more than anything else to undermine our War Against the Muslim Terror Masters -- along with the lie that Islam is a "race" and that therefore any opposition to Islam is "racist". We must expunge such "fuzzy thinking" and lies from our minds if we ever hope to win this War for the very survival of our Western civilization.
