I’d say Joe Kennedy. Both turned Prohibition Profits into big real estate ventures. Trump, however, is not making the same mistake Joe did. He is not giving the administration of the country to his kids. He is (mostly) doing it himself.

I still tend to Andrew Jackson.
I haven’t been over here for awhile, and of course the very first message I see mentions “Prohibition.”
🙂
I might say Grant. He inherited a big mess, he was hated with a passion by almost half the country, and he was continually accused of corruption although none of the charges ever stuck. And despite (or because of) it all, he bulled through all of it.
Diogenes, yeah, getting repetitive. Classical Valium used to have some good threads for things like science fiction.
OK, I’ll start with an embarrassing admission. I’m a huge Ron Goulart fan. I can’t get enough of his writing. I know he’s a shameless hack, and I love it. (technically, a hack isn’t a bad writer, as such, just a professional. Give him the assignment, pay the money, and you get the product, no muss, no fuss. No emotional, or “artistic” involvement.)
Next, why did the latest Larry Niven / Greg Benford collaboration suck so bad?
MMM,
Prohibition is at the center of at least 50% of government corruption.
It is responsible for at least 50% of the Deep State Black Budget.
Yes it gets repetitive. And as long as I’m alive it will stay that way. Until Prohibition ends.
